Haitian Revolution (1791–1804) - Haitian Infantry
This blister pack contains six randomly selected bodies and heads to complete six figures.
The French Revolutionary Wars at the turn of the 18th Century had spread beyond Europe to reach the Caribbean. The Haitian Revolution (1791–1804) was a period of brutal conflict in the French colony of Saint-Domingue, leading to the elimination of slavery and the establishment of Haiti as the first republic ruled by people of African ancestry. Although hundreds of rebellions occurred in the New World during the centuries of slavery, only the revolt on Saint-Domingue, which began in 1791, was successful in achieving permanent independence under a new nation. The Haitian Revolution is regarded as a defining moment in the history of Africans in the New World. The uprising in Haiti drew in the European super powers with Britain & Spain fighting against the French in the Caribbean. After many brutal battles, the rebels were successful in expelling the French and declared the former colony’s independence, renaming it “Haiti” after the indigenous Arawak name. This major loss was a decisive blow to France and its colonial empire. The French Revolutionary Wars were a series of major conflicts, from 1792 until 1802, fought between the French Revolutionary government and several European states. Marked by French revolutionary fervour and military innovations, the campaigns saw the French Revolutionary Armies defeat a number of opposing coalitions and expand French control to the Low Countries, Italy, and the Rhineland. The wars involved enormous numbers of soldiers, mainly due to the application of modern mass conscription.
Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted and without bases.
